So I’ve solved the z axis fault debacle and am now setting up the ATC.
Issue 1 - When I tried to do a spindle warmup I get a message stating that the cutter selected is a router and no warmup is needed. I’ve gone back to the Acorn Wizard a few times now and verified that I have “spindle” selected and chose the AV40S as my spindle. I’ve restarted all boxes and even the PC but I keep getting told “router” is selected.
Issue 2 - I went into the ATC utilities to extend and retract the tool rack to ensure it was working, the rack extends okay, but when I try the retract button I hear air being dumped but it doesn’t seem like air is filling the opposite side of the cylinders to push the rack back. I can push it back by hand but it won’t go back on it’s own. I’ve double and triple checked the flow valve direction and opened up the needle valves but nothing seems to help. Could it be a solenoid on in the aux box is not activating to put air on the back side of the cylinders?
I ran through the ATC diagnostics and here is what I’ve found.
Rack retract test - Failed - unplugged hose at the aux box and no air discharge - Sensor test passed after pushing rack back manually
Rack extend test - Good - Sensor test also passed
Tool bin obstruction test - Good
Air pressure test - Good
Air blast test - Failed - unplugged hose at the aux box and no air discharge - Air blast is turned on in the setup and set for 1 second
MTC button test - Good
Spindle stopped test - Good
Drawbar sensors test - Good
It seems there is an issue with the air activating on the rack retract and air blast functions. That along with the system not recognizing the cutter as an AV40S spindle as opposed to a router even though spindle is specified in the Acorn Wizard.
Seems like it would be a good idea to check them wires before you install the boxes. What I mean is you don’t know how much bouncing around them UPS drivers are doing!!
I didn’t see the solution in the thread for the system thinking there is a router instead of a spindle. I have selected spindle in the wizzard also, but it won’t run a spindle warmup because it thinks I have a router. Is the solution an upcoming CNC12 release, or a setting somewhere I missed?
Eric: I’m having the same “router selected as cutting tool”. Ribbon cables are tight. Can you think of any other area I should check before I put in a service ticket?
I have found that using the pendant you can click “spin - auto/man” off, then click the “spin” button next to it to start the spindle. You can then turn the increment knob to dial up or down the speed for a warm up procedure.
