CNC DEPOT RETROFIT guide for EX controls UPDATED 11/5/24

Eric,
Curious about the strategy behind Auto Measure (F3 in Tool/ATC) not taking into account the z difference between the work surface and TTO plate.

Don’t use that. That is centroids stock tool measurement utility and shouldn’t be used.

Use our MTC button only.

JtheB is using my macros that can remember the tool height. I bet I could make Auto Measure work if I can figure out where they store the z-offset…I need to ask the Centroid guys, as I can’t figure it out.

That entire section of CNC12 is about to get replaced with something brand new. I would just stay away from that menu and forget that it exists for now

I have a dual CNC Spindle/Plasma Pro CNC machine. I need a solution that retains the plasma torch (Relay 6). Is there another relay I can use for the drawbar signal?

When you swap to plasma you unplug your VFD anyway so that torch relay goes back to your torch

Thanks for the quick response. So this change doesn’t affect the plasma configs. Got it. Another question. Where do I find instructions what to do with the A axis brake. I could only find instructions for the Z brake.

Plasma is a completely separate software profile that you run

If you’re talking about a rotary it doesn’t have a brake. If you’re talking about a second Z we tie both brakes together.

@Eric Just to clarify, you state with the retrofit kit, no physical changes are needed to the VFD, but the programming steps should still be followed? My CNC Depot provided model is the Delta VFD-EL

Cnc depot spindles may require a little rewiring. It’s in the instructions in the first post.

I was asking if programming is required of the VFD. Should I follow the instructions here - VFD Parameter Changes - EX Controller Technical Manual

This is from the guide in the first post here. Follow those instructions and you should be good. If you have a tool rack you can look for @corbin 's software mods too (they’re great)
