Dead motor controller?

Hey all,

I have about a 9 year old CNC RP pro machine, has been a rock star. Didnt use it for about 3 months, turned it on today and the slave Y was not working. Took a peek, fault light was on the motor driver. power cycled, stayed on. Swapped motor out at the connection on the controller to a new/backup motor, fault stayed on. Swapped connectors w/ the driver above it, fault light stays on. Starting to think I have a dead motor driver, open to any other troubleshooting steps though. Thanks!

Sounds like you’ve done some solid troubleshooting at both the input and output of the driver. Only other thing I can think of is to check the DIP switches - maybe take note of their position (I think all drivers use the same set), then cycle them all a few times, and back to original position. I had a sticky DIP switch on a N23 driver once, it was setting the wrong current levels or something.

Failing that, reach out to Avid for a replacement and get that thing running again.

If you do have a blown driver we have those in stock

Good idea to double check thanks!
