Diy vacuum table ..any thoughts?

I’ve been looking at vacuum tables lately and came across this video CNC vacuum motors and table

So I was thinking of something similar but without all the piping and valves.

I was thinking of 4 sections for each motor…each motor with its own start switch… and no valves just a cap to block the unused section. to avoid all the plumbing.

any thoughts?

That will probably work well, however by not doing any plumbing you’re not giving yourself the option to valve off sections and send more suction power to others.

For 4x8 sheets your best bet is going to be a “universal” vacuum. Usually these consist of having three layers on your machine: Bottom layer solid plywood Middle layer a plenum Top layer LDF (low density fiberboard) Then you plumb a vacuum pump into it like this: and you can suck down full sheets. I used some sewer backflow prevention valves, and 8 on/off valves and I could distribute 4 motors worth of suction anywhere on the table I wanted. Super nice setup.
