Suitable Vacuum pump

I have made a small vacuum table 60cm x 30cm. Table works great using a standard shop vacuum cleaner but I know this is very much an interim option as it gets very hot when running. I have tried one of the Aircon maintenance oil filled vacuum pumps (a 5cfm one) but I don’t get anywhere near as good vacuum holddown as with shop vac. Any suggestions as to a good suitable vacuum pump that I should purchase.
