First Cut Help - Touch Plate / Tool Measurement Error

I am trying to do my first cut. I first set the tool height like the Video that Eric demonstrated on Avid’s YouTube channel https://youtu.be/g3MMSJ8NxzQ?feature=shared. First I ran the Tool Height Touch Plate Calibration and then the Spoil board. However, when I try to set the touch plate corner and Z height I get a warning that is shown in the picture below. I also got a similar warning when I push the MTC button. I am at a loss since I thought I did exactly what was shown in the video. Please help as I am trying to do my first cut.

What happens when you push the MTC button from the main screen? Do you get instructed to go over and swap the tool, and then does the tool touch off to the tool height setter?

if so, let that process run through and then go and use the touch plate utility. You can’t use the touch plate utility until a tool has been touched off to the tool height setter with the MTC button.

If you press the MTC button and you get a warning about the tool height setter not being setup, then for whatever reason the calibration process didn’t complete and you need to run it again.

So, order of things is:

*Calibrate tool height setter
*Calibrate spoilboard
*MTC and measure your first tool
*Then use touch plate utility

I am getting errors that 923 Z home not set? I homed the machine multiple times? Very Frustrated with this.

I started by calibrating the Tool Height Setter
Then Calibrated the Spoil Board
Then pressed MTC - Then I got errors shown below.

Help Please, Calling tomorrow.

Thanks, David

I finally got it to work but I have concerns as to why? I did everything the same and the fifth or so time it finally worked. I would like to discuss tomorrow.

Thanks,

David

From that screenshot it looks like you may have tried to do this on a machine that wasn’t homed…

The machine needs to be homed first… My guess is that maybe you hit home and didn’t press cycle start again and waited too long to come back to the machine so it was kinda stuck waiting for you to do that?

Or perhaps you inadvertently hit feedhold?
