Fusion metric design to CNC12 in inches

Hello!

I have extensive experience with CAD Design (Autodesk Fusion) and FDM 3D printing but new in the 2.5 axis CNC and just started using an AVID 4848Pro running CNC12 v5.22.

I design everything in Fusion and mostly in Metric (mm) units. The AVID CNC is set up for Imperial (inches) units.

Do I switch units to inches in Fusion “Design-Document Settings” before PostProcess the object(s) in Fusion-Manufactoring or some other process?

With our current version of CNC12 you are going to want the units in Fusion and CNC12 to match. In future versions this will be less stringent.

Thank you @Eric

Doesn’t the Fusion post processor have a selection for units. I have never used it, but I see it there.

It does, but your CNC12 needs to be in the same units as your exported G code from Fusion.

This requirement will be less stringent on future versions, but for now that’s the way it works

Can’t you just use the G20/G21 codes to specify units in the file?

Not right now.

Units in your G code and your control must match.

You can switch the units in the control whenever you want.

Thank you @Eric
