I am having issues trying to get Centroid to work on my computer. Previously I ran Mach4, I’ve change the Network adapter back to Obtain an IP address automatically from the default Mach4 made me use. I am still getting this issue where I cant select the adapter during the setup/process with Centroid. Not seeing anything on the forums about this already, I’ve logged a ticket with Avid on this also. If anyone has any ideas or ran into this issue and know how to resolve, would be greatly appreciated! Sharing what I see, when I select the adapter an hover over the select adapter button it greys out.
Under the “Settings” on your PC, choose “Network and Internet” then at the bottom choose “Advanced Network Settings”. Pick the adapter name, and in this case it is named SmartStepper. Disable it and the reboot your PC.
Once it reboots, follow the same steps and then enable it. Sometimes windows and the ethernet adapters need to be turned off/on to reset things.
The other thing is make sure both IP Assignment and DNS Assignment are both set to Automatic(DHCP).You can see this by following the previous path >system/Advanced network settings/smoothstepper ethernet adapter, hit the down arrow to the right, go to “additional properties” and check both settings there.
Thank you for the reply, I called Avid and was able to get this resolved with there tech. First step was to do a network reset, since my port was called smooth something it was not able to work. Once I did that I could see it named normal. When I ran the setup again it still would not let me select it, but I used a usb-c to ethernet adapter and that made it work. Hope this helps someone in the future!
I had the same problem when I went from Mach4 to Centroid. It’s a windows issue. Avid was very helpful. Ultimately I had to uninstall and reinstall the network adapter to fully blow away the SmartStepper network. Once I did that everything was fine.
