I recently upgraded my 4HP spindle with the new AV40s ATC with controller. Worked perfectly until today, put power on and heard a small bang. Upon some trouble shooting, it appears that there is no 24 volt being generated (MeanWell MDR-20-24 AC to DC DIN-Rail Power Supply, 24V, 1 Amp, 24W, 1.5" - 1943385, can I have a confirmation for this part number!) , thus no power to fan and presumable the controller itself, and as a consequence, no connection to centroid also, showing a spindle error. I’ve checked the voltage on the incoming plug (blue on left hand side) and sure enough the 220v is coming in. The fan is not active and green light on DC power supply is not on. I presume, this part will need to be replace! As for the controller itself, it does not power up, I presume that part is not damage or am I looking at a replacement? in the mean, time, I still have the original controller for the 4HP spindle and if I understand correctly, that controller can be hooked up to the AV40S spindle, is that correct? I’m adding a pic from Amazon, I’ll order that one soon!
Get in touch with support on this one. Use the contact link up top here. They will get you sorted out.
But in the mean time, can I use the controller for the 4HP spindle to connect with the new AV40S spindle? If I recall correctly when I purchased the whole package, with the new ATC spindle I had the option to do a swap with the spindle and keep the original controller! If, do I need new setting?
Those VFDs should be the same. Those upgrading from a 4HP Hiteco spindle to AV40S don’t need a new VFD:
However, I’d just be a little cautions… those power supplies rarely fail. I wonder if there’s something else up… It might require a little more digging…

Thanks for the feedback! I”ll use my old VFD for the moment and continue working with my CNC. I’ve send a support ticket. The issue happen quite fast, and I used same power-on sequence, turn VFD on, turn EX controller on, and activate centroid software. In this instance, when I turned the VFD on, I heard a small bang or pop, the VFD is now totally dead, no power on fan, no pilot light on 24v power supply and no power on the VFD (delta VFD-EL-W on old one and mistubishi D700 on new one). Any issue of the actual VFD could be damaged also?
Electrical problems happen in an instant. I don’t want speculate what went wrong because I’m not there with a multi meter. I’d let support take it from here.
