Back to work on this CNC today yesterday I trammed the spindle without the auxbox and moving rack Avid supplies a wall wart for powering the spindle and you connect your airline so you can move it around during tramming. You need a shortened 6 mm hex wrench to tighten the top right bolt if you didn’t get one you just cut one down I had a bunch of spares. That took me awhile to do it’s a back and forth thing but I got both the nod and tilt down to a thousandth of an inch so that worked out good. This spindle is so cool even for manually installing tools. It’s definitely a little bit quieter than the other four horse spindle.

Today I’m installing the auxbox and airlines to the moving rack if you have a bunch of things stored under your table you have to pull that out so you can tie down the airlines in some spots avid supplies a ton of small plastic tie downs to install for these airlines.

This should be the last of the installing of the hardware next is the software. Yay :grin:

We supply a hex bolt for this reason. All you should need is a bolt and a 13 mm box wrench

Oops!! I reused my old hardware. Without thinking.. I found the bag of fasteners :rofl: well in my case everything worked out good thanks for pointing that out..

I hope you didn’t use the old countersunk bolts to fasten the new moving plate onto the Z axis. I did that and the old bolts are too long causing them to lodge into the red guard plates and essentially locked the z axis in place. The new bolts provided are socket head bolts, not the same as the original countersunk head bolts.

When I did my first setup in wizard I set the spindle to av 40. And when I tried to do a spindle warm-up I had a message router was selected. So I went back to the wizard and selected AV 70. And the drive spin fault light went out and I could continue with the warm up. Is that a known issue with the current beta profile release?

Yes, already patched and I am working on getting an update pushed out. Picking an AV spindle, or even the 8.7 is a fine way around this problem. Those settings actually don’t do a whole lot other than set the RPM so it’s fine to pick a different one.

Well yesterday I successfully calibrated tool bin locations and started to load the tool rack. When Eric said in one of the set up videos it’s really close to the y+ limit he wasn’t kidding.

This photo shows where I ended up after a few adjustments and I think there’s about two millimeters from the bumper.

Other than that it was smooth sailing. I think I could adjust the air pressure to the rack for faster movements but it seems fast enough for me right out of the box with a smooth motion..

I finished up the setup with the 45 watt laser today. Everything went well. I need to find a spot to mount a flow gauge. Ran a test with some art not my art I call this angry Bear. :grin:

yeah it gets really close in Y. We’re working on getting a bit more travel out of it so there’s some extra room to work there… but if it’s working for you: Clearance is clearance.
