Newer EX Plasma Profile?

I’m setting up a new computer for my Avid because my old PC died. I have to start a fresh install and setup of my Pro CNC Router/Plasma combo with the EX Controller. The router profile setup has been fine but I’m having issues with the Plasma profile using the Plasma v5.18 u1 from the site.

  • The jog is really slow
  • I am getting a “501 Invalid character” error when attempting to home.
  • During home, Z travels really slow at 12 - 24mm/min.

I found a cure for the slow jog by changing Param 40 but I remember there being a newer Plasma profile when I set this up over a year ago. Does the website have an outdate Profile or am I missing something. It’s been a while since I set up my machine the first time(year ago) so I don’t remember having to “fix” anything.

Try setting it up again in imperial, do all of your machine setup and then switch it to metric after you’re done in the wizard

Thanks for the reply. I tried redoing the setup, leaving it in imperial. The jog is fine now but I’m still getting the same error when attempting to home. Z and X are able to home but I get

501 Invalid character, servo.him, line 99

I got it working for now by changing the machine type to “Pro CNC” from “Pro Plasma CNC”. I also had to switch to “3 axis” from “Dual Z”. This must of been what I had to do previously but so far so good.
