Problem when Homing Z axis upon starting profile

Upon turning EX controller on and pendant, Z axis will only go up, even if trying to move it down towards the spoilboard (it goes up only). I had to manually trip the Z axis proximity sensor flag with a metal screwdriver, which seemed to resolve the issue where I could then start a homing procedure.

Prior to this happening (for the second time) the EX control and CNC12 was working fine. The first time it occurred it actually crashed into Z proximity sensor and hard stop, repeatedly several times and I had to E stop the machine.

I hope I have explained this well. If not please ask for clarification. Looking for a solution if anyone has ideas. Thanks!

After you home everything is fine?

Yes Eric, after homing it seems fine. I just find it strange I need to manually trip the Z limit switch with a piece of metal so I am able to jog the Z down to do a homing to begin with. Weird how it will only move upward.

Sounds like you have a setting reversed somehow. You should contact support about this and have someone go through your setup.

It worked fine before, when I first got the EX up and going. If it does it again, I will try installing a brand new profile. If it continues I’ll open a ticket with support.

Can I lower the proximity sensor flag a few threads without any impact and do you think that may even help?

Thanks so much and thank you Eric for your work on this community forum, as well as all the YouTube videos!

That’s odd… random behavior is not a trait of this controller… something seems odd here

You can, but it’s going to change your tool length. Just make sure you re-measure the tool that’s in the spindle.

Best thing you can do is refer to the instructions and set it to the proper stickout for your configuration
