Thoughts on a dust collection hose guide

Just got a plasma and powder coating setup and experimenting. This is my first iteration of a dust collection hose guide. Would like to press bend the metal next time.

I found that I didn’t like it being attached to the Z itself. I attached mine to the side of the X saddle. That reduced the leverage the hose has on the Z gantry and reducing amount of force it can translate into the gantry itself. Also, Don’t have to have the hose sticking up in the air so much.

Looks really nice though! Good job.

Thanks.
Any way I could see a picture of your setup?

Here are a couple of things we tried. The one with the extrusion right off the Z axis. Used some laser cut parts to hold down the hose then switched to a 3D printed version. Then another prototype with it being supported directly off the X axis. You can see the unistrut above for the hose. We’re in process of adding a pulley mechanism to double the travel of the retract real and we will then shorten the hose.

I just finished my version of the hose guide. I had most of the pieces already but I had to purchase the 15/15 extruded aluminum and a few brackets to secure the bar. At both ends of the top hose I have dust right swivel ports to prevent tangling. At the top of the bar I also put a magnetic disconnect. There was also a few 3D printed parts as well. I think I overkilled it with a double tap lol but it works well..
