Hello
Question on the touch plate…which I rarely use.
So today I needed to find a corner.
it is a piece of metal that sits on the table metal legs as well.
When I put the touch plate on the metal to be cut it triggers in cnc12 even without the magnet…so I thought it might be a wire issue inside the touch plate so I took it apart and nothing…if it is not touching the table it is good and if I put the magnet on it while not touching the table it works as well.
Is there something I need to look at…or it needs to be isolated from the table as well? I am using v5.24
If you’re talking about the standard Avid touchplate, yes, it needs to be isolated from the table. Why? Because typically your tool and the table are electrically connected through the bearings and gantry. I suspect the touchplate was intended for use with wood, not metal.
On the rotary table, there’s actually a plastic insert for the touchplate to isolate it. Maybe 3d print something that does the same? You’d have to tweak the software to offset the probed points to account for the plastic.
