First EX project

Prototype Maloof chair seat for our patio furniture. Some lessons learned about the new system and the design. Design needs some tweaks to work for the chair but overall very happy. I was running thecarve finishing tool path at 600ipm feed and plunge. The tool touch of signal kept triggering and I would get a warning on the screen then it would clear. This happened over and over. It didnt effect the project but its definetly courious. Anyway here is a picture.

Nice!

The tool touch off plate is pretty sensitive to vibration. I’ve noticed the warning several times when I wasn’t running g-code. One time I just dropped the larger collet wrench on the spoilboard, and that was enough to trigger it. I would imagine any jerkiness (accelerating or decelerating) at 600 ipm would be enough to trigger it.

It sure is. If I bang on my workpiece to set the two sided tape mine will trigger a few times. I’m sure running a at 600ipm in all 3 axis caused enough vibration to trip it a few times as well.

Those of you that are seeing reduced speeds because of tool height setter triggering check out this troubleshooting step.

Those on later versions of the software (5.24) you’ll see a message if the tool height setter triggers under vibration, but it won’t impede the machine working.
