New CNC12 Install Brake not working

Hi all, my new install of CNC12 with Servos and the Z axis falls to the bottom when shut down.

I took the Z apart and confirmed that the set screws are tight with Loctite. The brake cable is also seated on both ends and screwed down.

Is there anything else I need to check?

Thanks!

Give a call or an email to support. Sounds like the brake is stuck.

I had the exact same issue after recently installing the 45w laser. Never had an issue before that. When I shut down cnc12 the Z axis slowed dropped until it bottomed out. I didn’t notice it was happening once and it drove a bit into my spoil board. I spoke to Rusty and went in this weekend and tightened the two set screws in the collar of the holding brake at the bottom of the ball screw. I checked to be sure the brake was fully seated and it was. Basically it seems like all I did was loosen the two screws and then retighten them. It seems to have worked so far although it’s only been 24 hours. I have tested it a few times by shutting git down and have not had it drop yet. Hoping this fixed it but it. DataImage35.png

So, Eric, what is the secret to getting Avid support to get back to me? Emailed through support on the site last Tuesday and have heard nothing. Called and left a message last Thursday. Have heard nothing. Please tell me what it takes?

Thanks Rick, I did try this and no luck. No help from Avid either.

Hey David, let’s take this to DM. I am looking into this for you.
