New touchplate wiring connection

Purchased the square touchplate to replace the round one I have and need some help with the connection. The new plate comes with the plug-in connector that is used with newer more current controls. Mine is an older control box that just uses a mollex/pin type connection. Has anyone done similar and figured out how to retrofit the cable and connection? There are instructions from Avid but it sounds different than reality. I really dont want to cut the connector off.

You could make up an adapter between the two styles of connectors but that involves purchasing two different parts. Easiest to cut off the mollex connector from your old touch plate and use that. What is unclear about the Avid instructions?

I think I was able to figure it out. The 4 pin M12 connector they use on the new plate of course looks like it has 4 wires that need to be connected but they are only using it for one wire plus the magnet ground. I ordered a female M12 to use between their cable’s male connector and my mollex connection so that should do the trick unless I get the wires crossed.

The instructions identified the process for a few different older control systems and I had to figure out which applied. Mine is a CRP-300 and none had that listed by that terminology.

Sounds like you have it figured out. Assuming that the mollex connector just has two pins I understand the confusion. You will connect the M12 pins 3 and 4 to the two pins of the mollex connector. Normally open (4) and ground (3). Order is not important. Pin 2 is unused by the controller and you don’t need voltage from pin 1. 3 and 4 are the two opposite/below the small tab in the connector.
