Smoke Eater Boot

After shamelessly plagiarizing off Eric, Jim and laser beds from others, I wanted to add a smoke boot to eat smoke. It is a 3D print from MakerWorld I printed out of PTEG. I don’t think it will get too hot but if it does, I will reprint out of ASA.

I lined it with some old window screen because the activated charcoal crumbles as I drop it, kick it, move it, etc. It doesn’t seem to create a lot of backpressure and works real well for engraving. next up is cutting a fair amount of 1/4in ply. That will be the real smoke test.

My change to the laser bed was to just use magnets in the bed and attach the plastic hose adapter to the hose and screw it to a piece of wood with magnets. That left the bottom of the laser bed flat for storage.

Will report back after I do some cutting. That really lets the smoke out of the wood.

Looks nice. Can’t see your entire “smoke setup”, but it appears you use plastic hose instead of aluminum? Fire hazard?

It will be interesting to see how that works. I know someone who uses a shop vac and a bunch of thick rags and he says that works pretty good, and he’s just recycling the air back into his basement.

That seems like… a fire risk?

@Gbeck214 That’s pretty neat. There’s also these: Smoke purifier | Bambu Lab CA Store
