Soft limits with EX controller/ AV40S plus update software 5.24

Hello folks

I recently updated my spindle for the AV40s, works great! I updated to the 5.24 software per ins

tallation instruction. I’ve noticed the soft limits setting are no longer available or active in this version, with previous software version they were just under the spoilboard dig in line for both X and Y. Are those soft limits listed elsewhere? I’m seeing other values in the next page, but not seeing values referencing soft limits.

A+

They’re on the “motor and jog” settings in the next menu below that one.

Also, there’s a hidden utility in the “UTILs” menu from the main screen in CNC12 that’s called “Travel limit setter” this one will ask you to jog close to the end of your machine and it will seek the sensor flags at the limit of your table and set your travel for you. (just make sure your sensors work and your flags are in place)

I just used the Travel Limit Setter tool under the Utils menu last weekend. Worked great!

thanks guys! will try those tomorro!

Can you say what exactly is supposed to happen when you use that setter? Because I tried that the other day and it did something that I wasn’t expecting so I hit the e stop. Maybe I should just do it manually

It just seeks the ends of your machine by finding the sensor flags.

Can you be more specific about what you saw that was unexpected?

And for anyone else reading: this utility isn’t required on any standard machine configuration. It’s really meant for people that have custom machine sizes or those who maybe want to sneak a few extra millimeters of travel out of their machines.

Yes it tapped the hard stop three times so I stopped it . I measured the flag and it was the correct distance. And tested the sensor it was fine. It typically stops about 3/4 of an inch from the hard stop when jogging this is on the x-axis

sounds like for one reason or another it’s not picking up that sensor. You might have the wrong sensor plugged in… I’ve made that mistake before.

If you want to make sure everything is correct you might want to go back through the setup docs for your particular machine to make sure you’ve got it all wired correctly. It’s possible to have a machine that homes and works just fine, but has it’s limit sensors not hooked up (or not hooked up correctly)

Okay I actually spent a couple hours today trying to figure this out and got it to run correctly. I Had to move the flag or flags in a little bit on the right side of the machine about a quarter of an inch .

Yup having those flags in the right spot is key. Glad you got it sorted.
