Z Axis Moving Plate Screws

I’ve just done the EX Controller/Servo upgrade and so far everything has gone really well and the machine is running perfectly. That being said, I have a small question:

In the directions, it just says to put the z axis back together in a reverse of the disassembly. That’s fine, but how tight should the ten screws holding on the moving plate (removed in step 5.1.5) be? I was concerned about tightening them down too far since there is a brush contacting the Rapplon dust cover. However, after running the machine a few hours, some of those screws worked loose. I’ve tightened them all down again but I thought I’d ask. Should they be super tight? Should I use locktite?

Thanks much,
Garth

I’m not sure what our official stance on loctite there is, but I did mine with blue loctite and they haven’t worked lose. The blue stuff is meant to hold bolts, but still allow you to remove them if needed.

And hilariously it comes in a red container…

Eric,
Thanks! I like the idea of loctite here since it’s not likely I’ll need to take this apart again any time soon. And yep, I’ve got some blue loctite in the red tube…

Best,
Garth
